About the Committee

From the Constitution:

1. The purpose of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee is to promote acceptance, tolerance, diversity, and inclusion in the College of Education and on Purdue University’s campus on behalf of the Council.

2. The Chair of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee shall be the Secretary.

3. The Diversity and Inclusion Committee will be comprised of the Secretary and at least three and no more than nine non-officer Council  members elected by the Council. The duties of this committee are:

     a. to actively promote diversity and inclusion on a regular basis to the College of Education and across campus through signs, fliers,      messages, or any other method deemed appropriate; and

     b. to respond to any act or threat of hate, violence, or discrimination against a social group on Purdue University’s campus with statements on behalf of PSEC in the form of resolutions, physical signs of diversity and inclusion distributed on campus, or any other method deemed appropriate; and

     c. to draft legislation and take action on matters relating to diversity and inclusion whenever and however they see fit.

Mission Statement

The Purdue Student Education Council believes that diversity and inclusion should be valued both in the classroom and in the world. The College of Education and Teacher Education Program are diverse and full of many different cultures and backgrounds.  The purpose of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee is to ensure that PSEC is mirroring the experiences of our constituents. As a committee, we aim to promote a respectful, inclusive, and safe environment in our College and on our campus.
